To complete the addition of Variety Lab’s EP to our catalogue, we are proud to present the music video for “A Fairlight For Christmas”.
The new video of French electro pop band Variety Lab looks like a VHS from the 80s and is a tribute to the work of American visual effects pioneer Robert Abel. A merry geek-Christmas song which lyrics have been integrated into the synthetic universe of advertisements and TV credits.
This song harkens back to the work of Peter Vogel, the inventor of the synthesizer/sampler CMI Fairlight.
Most of the clips in this video are taken from commercials directed by Robert Abel and Associates – archives.org.
A few other clips are taken from Japanese TV adverts made for Yodobashi stores and some others from the “discovering electronic music” documentary.
