About the artist :

Her deeply inhabited songs and dark orchestral pop evoke the pitfalls of passion and of romantic love: of rupture and flight (“The Only Way”), of toxic love (“Renunciation”), and even of murderous folly in “Down By The Water”. “These themes have always fascinated me,” she admits laughingly (in fact she self-describes as “happy on the outside; dark on the inside”). “Romantic love is so complicated. And so wonderful. It has both happy and dramatic dimensions, an ambivalence so well captured by the verb ‘to fall’. It evokes falling in love of course, but also the literal idea of a fall, or of a tragic destiny”.
